A Therapist And Their Massage Equipment
I went in for my bi-weekly massage therapy appointment and I noticed that my therapist had a new piece of massage therapy equipment in the room I had never seen before. Well, it was obviously a piece of used massage equipment but it was new to me. I instantly recognized it as a massage chair that I had seen in Las Vegas where people would offer 30 minute massages on that type of chair for $20. My therapist said that some of her patients are unable to lie down on the table so this is how they have to take their therapy. I tried to wrap my mind around being unable to lie down but I just couldn’t grasp it. For months I was unable to sit so I can understand the problem with sitting but if I could not lie down then I don’t know what I would do.
I asked my therapist if she uses some kind of massage equipment supply store or how does she get all of this equipment? She said that she gets her equipment from various sources but she does like to specialize in stores that sell health massage equipment whether it is used or new. She will get anything from standard massage equipment to foot massage equipment depending on what she needs and what she can spend. Massage therapists don’t get paid like doctors do so equipment is a major investment for the standard massage therapist.
I was checking out some massage therapy equipment on the internet recently and saw some very interesting things. I saw one massage therapy table that had a divider going across the middle of the table that made it look like a ping pong table. I cannot imagine that is comfortable and I cannot picture what benefit that could possibly have. I saw some portable massage therapy tables and it reminded me that many massage therapists actually go to their customers as opposed to having their clients come to them. That seems a little brave to me to venture out into stranger’s homes on the premise of giving massage therapy. There are a lot of strange people out there and you never know what you are going to get when you deal with the general public.
Some of the massage equipment available goes way beyond your standard table with a head rest on it. There were a couple of tables I saw in my internet search that I still do not see how the human body would fit on them. But a good massage therapist knows what equipment they need to do the job and they know how to use that equipment once they get it. The trick for many massage therapists is to find equipment that fits into their budget and that can be very tricky when you consider that some equipment can cost hundreds, maybe even thousands, of dollars and some of the equipment they need cannot be purchase used so they miss out on that savings as well.
